Grateful

The process

Here you can see what inspired me, the mood boards I made, mind mapping, and the sketching process. Also included is my creative brief.

To me, Grateful Magazine is about gratitude, creativity, pushing boundaries, and asking questions that aren’t often asked. The objective of this magazine is to get people to talk. I want it to be real and focus on the true essence of creativity. I want people to feel something when they see the pictures, graphics, and topics I choose to write about. The first article will go into it in more depth below.

To me, this magazine is my Circus Maximus. It’s edgy but editorial, even a bit NSFW at times; honestly, it’s just so me. I worked hard on this. I really put my everything into it. I started with a 10-page idea, and through shoots and work, it grew to 20. Interesting background information: I have always wanted to create a magazine or work for one. This is the culmination of everything I ever wanted to do creatively throughout my life. This came from long, late nights and hours of scouting locations, coordinating with models, and designing pages. The aim is to tell a story and show my heart through every element. I’ve done 2 other photographic collections, and each time I’ve wanted to make a photobook or magazine, so this is also an ode to completion, a reminder to myself that I can do anything I put my mind to. Thank you for viewing, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did creating it.

A GRATEFUL Evening

A Grateful Evening is the launch of GRATEFUL Issue 01 — an independent print magazine written, photographed, and designed entirely by one person. But this is not just a release party. It’s built as a creative mixer, and you come for three reasons: To hold the magazine — every ticket includes a numbered copy of Issue 01 and the launch kit. 250 copies exist. Then they don’t. To celebrate the work — live sets from Tea Fierro and Florence Mayez, the issue’s featured artist, performing beside his own printed spread, with DJ RJ holding the room between them. To meet the room — Twin Cities photographers, designers, musicians, and artists, gathered on purpose. Free professional portraits all night. Food included. Cash bar. Curated vendors. It was held on Friday, August 28 · 6–9 PM at the Mozaic Building,
